I could envision students, regardless of their background, sitting together during recess to eat, laugh, and make good memories together at school. I wanted to have a glimpse of that scene with my own eyes, so that is where I am today, doing what I love.
Sue Zann is a program lead for Super Sarapan in Yayasan Generasi Gemilang (GG). One of the biggest reasons she decided to join GG in 2019 was because she resonated with Super Sarapan’s goal of meeting student’s necessities in order for them to continue staying in school.
How did you come to join GG and work on Super Sarapan?
Before I applied to GG, I was scrolling through GG's blog post, and it really broke my heart when I read about students looking at the canteen from afar during recess because they were not able to eat. At that point, I knew I wanted to be a part of this.

What is a day like for you when doing Super Sarapan? What are some of the aspects of Super Sarapan that we don't see from the outside?
Oh, our day-to-day tasks vary from collecting attendance & invoices from schools for us to pay the canteens, doing quality checks on the food, to doing observation at the canteens.
One of the important aspects of Super Sarapan's success hinges on the support of the teachers-in-charge and canteen operators. The canteen operators provide Super Sarapan for the students while teachers keep track of the students' attendance.
For me, I work with so many supportive teachers and canteen operators who share the heart as GG. They would often check in on absent students to make sure that they were okay. Some teachers would also occasionally update me about the achievements of our Super Sarapan students. It always warms my heart when I receive such updates.
Super Sarapan would not be able to impact as many students if not for these heroes!
What does Super Sarapan mean to you? Were you able to catch a glimpse of that scene you envisioned when you applied for GG?
I personally think SS is a program that gives hope to the next generation.
It's just amazing how a simple act of giving out food to students in school can bring a smile to their faces! Food is served on the table for us every day, but it can be an uncertainty for many B40 students out there.
With that said, yes, I got to see the vision I had, and man, I love it!

I would love to have you be a part of this journey with me!
With just RM80, we can keep a child fed and give them an epic recess time with their friend! Wouldn't that bring joy to all?
