Through consistency, small beginnings grow…
In 2015, Chek Hup Sdn Bhd celebrated its 50th anniversary by “looking forward to giving back”. Believing that they had been given so that they in turn can give, Chek Hup partnered with GG to provide a reading programme, KidzREAD, for children from underserved communities, with the shared belief that education is key to transforming children, families and communities.
With the continuation of this partnership since then, KidzREAD has grown from a humble pilot project beginning with 15 children to now serving over 190 children across 3 communities. This growth has been supported by other like-minded corporate partners and amazing volunteers from the Malaysian public. More importantly, we have seen over 50% of our children improving at least one reading level every year.
And we don’t stop there. In 2021 we launched the KidzREAD Network to share this programme with NGO’s and volunteer groups who also want to meet children literacy needs in their local communities.
