Increasing Access to Education
In 2020 during the school closures, the B40 families reported an increase in expenses because their children were no longer receiving subsidised meals in school. With 39% of these families reporting a household income of RM1,000 or less, we knew we had to step in and continue providing aid to these families at home.
The Super Sarapan aid of RM60 a month was turned into a cash aid, and as a result 44% of the families were able to have food security. Before the aid, a mother shared that she was only able to afford rice and curry for daily meals. After receiving the aid she was able to buy a variety of fruits, meat, and vegetables to increase the quality & variety of foods consumed by her children. Whether online or offline learning, we want to continue supporting children’s access to education by providing for their basic needs.
